War in space, India gets ready to challenge China, prepares to…, Army is planning to…

India is ready to take on China in the space sector and for the same, is soon going to come up with a Military Space Doctrine. The Military Space Doctrine is an official strategic framework that outlines how a country plans to use space for defense and military operations. It serves as a guiding document for the armed forces, space agencies and the defense industry.

However, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said, military space doctrine is going to play an important role in future wars. He also said that China is expanding its capabilities very rapidly and also has the ability to disable or destroy satellites.

General Anil Chauhan added the Defence Space Agency (DSA), which is part of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, will likely release the doctrine in the next two to three months and that India should focus on Earth’s orbital space, enhance military capabilities and secure these assets from threats.

General Chauhan said, “We are also working on a National Military Space Policy.’ General Anil Chauhan was saying this during the inauguration of the third edition of the Indian DefSpace Symposium 2025. These initiatives are part of the government’s effort to protect India’s space-based assets and strengthen military capabilities to deal with new challenges. China has the capabilities of jammers and other anti-satellite technologies that disrupt.

General Anil Chauhan called for establishing India as a global space power. Initiatives like launching satellites for ISRO in partnership with ISRO and private industry are underway, he said. Last November, the DSA conducted a three-day exercise called ‘Space Exercise – 2024’ to rehearse the evolving threats posed by and against space-based assets. The Defence Ministry had then said the exercise would help secure national strategic objectives and integrate India’s space capabilities into military operations.
