CNG Autos Ban: CNG autos will be banned in this state from August 15? know the rules of the government’s EV Policy 2.0
A new EV policy has been prepared as part of the recommendation to remove CNG auto rickshaws from the roads of Delhi. In this policy, several steps will be taken towards converting old vehicles into electric. Under the new policy, restrictions may come into effect after August 15, when the campaign to convert all vehicles into EVs will begin.
CNG Autos Ban: It has been recommended to phase out CNG-powered auto rickshaws from Delhi’s roads. A draft EV Policy 2.0 has also been prepared. Information about this came out on Monday, which revealed that no new registration will be done for CNG auto rickshaws after August 15. Two-wheelers will also be affected under the new policy, and suggestions have also been given for private car owners.
Under the new draft policy, CNG auto permits will also not be renewed after August 15 and all old permits will be replaced with electric auto permits only. The new policy also recommends the removal of all vehicles that are used by municipal bodies and city buses to carry garbage.
Auto rickshaws will have to shift to batteries!
The draft recommends that all CNG auto rickshaws older than 10 years will have to be compulsorily shifted to batteries, and made battery-operated. Not only this, two-wheelers running on petrol, diesel, and CNG will also not be allowed from August 15. CNG-based three-wheelers used for carrying goods will also not be registered.
Under the new policy, all garbage vehicles of Delhi Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Water Board will be converted into electric vehicles in a phased manner. The draft recommends ensuring 100 percent electric vehicles in Delhi by December 31, 2027. It has been recommended to convert government buses into electric buses.
Only electric buses will run on the roads of Delhi!
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) will purchase only electric buses within the city, while BS-VI category buses will run for intrastate.
There is also a recommendation for private car owners that if they already have two cars, they will have to buy only one electric car. This recommendation will come into effect after the notification of EV Policy 2.0. At present, this draft is yet to get the approval of the Delhi Cabinet, after which the process of implementing it will begin. The purpose of implementing this policy is to improve air pollution in the capital.
