Meet designer of Mukesh Ambani And Nita Ambani’s Rs 15000 Crore home Antilia, the name is…

Antilia, the towering residence of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, often grabs headlines — whether for its unmatched luxury or the recent legal buzz around the Waqf property dispute. But beyond the news, it’s known as one of the most iconic and extravagant homes in the country. Built over four years from 2006 to 2010, this architectural marvel reportedly cost around USD 2 billion to bring to life. Designed not just for grandeur but also safety, Antilia is engineered to stand firm even during an 8.0 magnitude earthquake. With its jaw-dropping scale and sheer opulence, it’s no surprise the Ambani home has become a symbol of modern Indian luxury.

Who really built Antilia? Here’s the story behind Ambanis iconic home

We often hear about Antilia’s jaw-dropping features — a 27-storey skyscraper-style mansion, soaring 173 metres high, with enough space to house a small luxury town. It boasts a 168-car garage, a lavish ballroom, a private theatre with 50 seats, spa facilities, a health club, temple, hanging gardens, and even a swimming pool — all wrapped into one residence.

But what often gets missed in the glitz and glamour is this: Who actually designed and built this architectural marvel?

The credit goes to Perkins & Will, an acclaimed architecture and design firm based in Chicago, USA. Known globally for their creative and sustainable designs, the firm is behind some of the most stunning buildings in the world .

The company was founded by Lawrence Perkins and Philip Will Jr., who first met during their student days at Cornell University. What began as a shared passion for design eventually evolved into one of the most respected names in global architecture. In 1986, the firm became part of Dar Al-Handasah, further expanding its reach and influence.

So, while Antilia often makes headlines for its luxury, its design roots trace back to a firm built on decades of vision, craftsmanship, and innovation.

Did Gauri Khan design Antilia’s interiors?

While Perkins & Will was the architectural mastermind behind Antilia’s striking design, many often wonder if Bollywood’s very own Gauri Khan had a hand in styling the interiors of India’s most luxurious home. And the answer is — yes, to some extent.

The bulk of Antilia’s lavish interiors were crafted by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), a globally renowned design firm known for its work in high-end hotels and luxury spaces. However, parts of the interior were indeed styled by Gauri Khan, the wife of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and a respected interior designer in her own right. Her unique taste and elegant aesthetics added a personal touch to certain areas of the Ambani residence.

As for the actual construction of this towering structure? That responsibility was handed over to Leighton Asia, a leading construction company operating across the Asia-Pacific. Leighton Asia is a key arm of Australia’s well-known CIMIC Group, which specializes in large-scale infrastructure and development projects.
