Akshay Kumar has starred in several films and his journey of highs and lows is not unknown to the industry. He made his movie debut in 1991 with ‘Saugandh’ and has had a fare share of streak of flops and then back-to-back hits. He was first recognised for his action movie ‘Khiladhi’ and got the moniker ‘Khiladhi Kumar.’

From action-thriller, romantic drama , slapstick comedy to crime thrillers, Akshay Kumar has essayed a range of characters. He gained appreciation from romantic films Dhadkan (2000), Andaaz (2003), Namastey London (2007), and for his slapstick comic performances in several films including Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), and Singh Is Kinng (2008).

But there was one film that was considered a ‘B-grade’ movie and was not received well amongst the audience. The film had bold scenes and was slammed bu the critics. The title is Mr Bond that was released in 1992.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘B-Grade’ Film

Born as Hari Om Bhatia, the actor was born in Old Delhi in a Punjabi family. Not just acting, but Kumar is adept in action, marshal arts, culinary skills as well.

Amongst the films that did not work well for him, was this Raj N. Sippy directorial Mr Bond. Like the name suggests, it was loosely based on the theme of Mr Bond movie series in Hollywood. During the 90s era James Bond series was widely looked upto.

Akshay Kumar’s Mr Bond was based on the concept of how an agent foils a human trafficking’s racket. Despite the popularity of Bond, the Hindi film failed to cash in on the trend.

The film also starred Sheeba Chaddha, Pankaj Dheer, Ruchika Pandey. The film had certain intimate, bold scenes that wasn’t well received at that time.
