Another Fake Cardiologist Comes Up In MP, Once Served In BJP's Jabalpur Medical Cell
Another instance of a fake cardiologist has emerged from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur after a recent similar case from Damoh.
A case has been registered against the man -- who once served as BJP's district medical cell co-convener -- for cheating by allegedly working at a government hospital with a fake medical degree, reported The Times of India.
The police believe that Shubham Awashti (40) had been serving on a fake Ayush degree at the Seth Govind Das District Hospital, said the officials on Monday. The case was booked on April 5, two days before another man accused of posing as a cardiologist was arrested in Damoh, who allegedly caused the death of seven heart patients.
Civil Lines police station in-charge Nehru Singh Khandate said that an FIR was booked on an order by the Judicial Magistrate First Class on February 12 and the case is under investigation.

'Black Sheep'
The complaint against Awasthi was filed by Shailendra Bari, who learned of the alleged fraud from a friend admitted at the hospital in 2020-21, according to the report.
Bari said his friend heard doctors discussing a "black sheep" in the hospital following which Bari used the Right To Information (RTI) Act to obtain Awasthi's educational documents.
After going through the documents, Bari approached the university and the ayurvedic college, supposedly associated with the accused's degree. Both institutions denied having him as a student.
Bari said Awasthi resigned from the hospital once the information was out. Dissatisfied by the police action, Bari approached the district court, which then ordered the cops to investigate the matter.

Served In BJP Earlier
The ruling BJP in the state admitted that Awashti once worked with the party holding a position, but claimed he was removed two years ago after facing prior allegations.
“Yes, he was BJP Jabalpur district medical cell co-convener," state BJP media cell co-convener and a practising dentist, Ashwini Trivedi said. However, he was relieved from the post two years ago, Trivdei said.
Jabalpur city BJP president Ratnesh Sonkar said the saffron party "doesn't tolerate such things." "Once we get official confirmation, 1001 per cent action will be taken," he added.
