Campus notes: Workshop on Mental Health
A special training workshop aimed at sensitising deans and heads of departments on student mental-health needs was held at Central University of Haryana (CUH). Conducted under the directives of the Union Ministry of Education, the initiative sought to raise awareness about mental well-being and enhance student support mechanisms. Organised by the Students Service Cell and Wellness Clinic in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, the workshop focused on identifying and addressing mental health challenges faced by students. CUH Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar lauded the efforts of the organisers. The expert speaker, Prof Sandeep Singh Rana from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, emphasised the importance of self-awareness in maintaining good mental health. Prof Payal Kanwar Chandel, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Psychology, outlined the objectives of the session. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Dr Vishnu Narayan Kucheria, who acknowledged the valuable contributions of both participants and organisers.
Research Methodology Course
Mahendragarh: The Department of Psychology at Central University of Haryana (CUH) is set to organise a 10-day course on research methodology for social science research. Sponsored and funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, the programme aims to equip researchers with essential skills in advanced research techniques, data analysis and academic writing. CUH Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar officially launched the course brochure, accompanied by course director Dr Vishnu Narayan Kucheria and co-director Prof Payal Kanwar Chandel, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. A total of 30 participants from Haryana and other states are expected to benefit from the training.
Expert Talk on Pharmacovigilance
Mahendragarh: An expert talk titled ‘Pharmacovigilance, ADR and Surveillance’ was recently conducted by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in association with the School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences at Central University of Haryana (CUH). The session, designed specifically for M.Pharm students and faculty members, was praised by Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar as a timely and vital initiative. The talk was delivered by Dr Palanisamy Sivanandy, a renowned international expert from the International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr Sivanandy highlighted the critical role of pharmacovigilance in ensuring the safety of medicines and vaccines, particularly during health crises such as pandemics. He also underlined the importance of reporting and monitoring Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) to safeguard patient health. Dr Manisha Pandey, the organising secretary, shared that over 90 students from across the country participated in the programme.
