Mumbai Crime: Man Arrested For Fatally Stabbing Abusive, Alcoholic Father In Bandra
A 31-year-old man was arrested by the BKC police on Sunday for allegedly killing his father, who had been abusing and assaulting his mother. The incident took place on Saturday after a heated argument between the parents, during which the accused, in a fit of rage, allegedly attacked his father with a knife. The victim, Raju Mungoda, who was unemployed and an alcoholic, had reportedly assaulted his wife several times in the past.
According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by the daughter of the victim, Mungoda, 65, a resident of Valmiki Nagar, Bandra East. The woman said that she was at work when she received information about her father's death and rushed to his residence. She said that she found Mungoda lying outside the house with a stab wound on his chest. The police arrived at the scene and took him to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, where he was declared dead.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim had come home drunk and assaulted his wife. Their son, Narsingh, intervened and tried to stop the fight. During the altercation, Mungoda allegedly began arguing with the accused, who then, in a fit of anger, stabbed him in the chest, said the FIR. The accused, who works as a housekeeper, was the sole breadwinner of the family.
The knife used in the attack has been sent to the forensic laboratory, while Narsingh has been remanded to police custody till April 11.
