Medical colleges organise quiz to mark Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Department of Community Medicine at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital organised an engaging World Health Day Quiz for MBBS students from batches 2021 to 2024.

Dr Anurag Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, unveiled the theme for World Health Day: “Healthy Beginnings and Hopeful Future.” He said the theme calls on governments and the health community to intensify efforts to eliminate preventable maternal and newborn deaths, while also prioritising women’s long-term health and wellbeing.

Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean of Academics, announced the quiz winners and commended the students’ enthusiastic participation. Dr Sarit Sharma, State Nodal Officer for the quiz, noted the winners would move on to the next level of the competition.

The final round of the quiz saw participation from four top-performing teams. The quiz was conducted by Dr Mahesh Satija, Dr Vikram Kumar Gupta, Dr Priya Bansal and Dr Pranjal Sharma.

Karanvir Singh Jhajj and Pooja Jindal from MBBS Batch 2021, alongside Manas from Batch 2024, emerged as the winners, demonstrating their academic excellence and awareness of pressing global health problems.

Quiz competition at Christian Medical College

The Department of Community Medicine at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, organised the IAPSM Quiz to commemorate World Health Day, celebrated globally on April 7 each year. This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings and Hopeful Futures,” highlighted the crucial need for accessible and equitable healthcare from the earliest stages of life.

The quiz saw participation from MBBS students, with four teams from the 2021 and 2022 MBBS batches.

Team 1 —Cynthia, Mehardeep and Himanshi — emerged as the winners, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and a deep understanding of community health problem.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Dr Dinesh Badyal, vice-principal; Dr Abhilasha Williams, vice-principal; Dr Amit Gulrez, Deputy Medical Superintendent; and Dr Sangeetha Mohan, Head of the Department of Microbiology.

Ludhiana
