Kapurthala police conduct cordon and search operation in Phagwara

In a concerted effort to enhance public safety and deter unlawful activities, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was conducted by Kapurthala police at the Phagwara bus stand on Monday. The operation was led by Inspector Aman Kumar and supported by a team of police personnel, who systematically inspected vehicles and individuals with suspicious behaviour.

The operation, carried out under the jurisdiction of Phagwara sub-division, was part of a broader initiative to reinforce security in high-footfall areas and prevent any potential threats. Police teams were seen conducting thorough checks at various entry and exit points around the bus stand, verifying identification documents and questioning individuals flagged for further scrutiny.

Speaking on the development, Superintendent of Police Rupinder Bhatti emphasised that the operation was a proactive security measure aimed at instilling a sense of safety among the public and deterring anti-social elements.

“The objective of this operation is to maintain law and order and ensure that public spaces remain safe. Such surprise checks serve as a strong deterrent to those who may attempt to disrupt peace and harmony,” said SP Bhatti.

He added that similar operations will continue in other areas of the district as part of routine security measure.

The police also appealed to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies during such operations and remain vigilant. Citizens have been encouraged to report any suspicious activity or unattended items to the nearest police station or via helpline numbers.

“Public cooperation is crucial. Security is a shared responsibility, and timely information from residents can play a key role in preventing untoward incidents,” SP Bhatti stated.

The Kapurthala police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and well-being of every citizen.
