Indo-Pak conflict portrayed in play Mitti Da Bawa
On the second day of the KL Saigal Punjabi Rang Utsav on Monday, the play ‘Mitti Da Bawa’ was presented by Manthan Arts and Theatre Society from Chandigarh, at the KL Saigal Memorial Hall in Jalandhar.
A play by Pali Bhupinder, Mitti Da Bawa is directed by Heera Singh. The play is set against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
The story of the play revolves around two soldiers from different nations — Indian Gurbaksh Singh and Pakistani Shah Nawaz — who meet each other in a burnt village in the jungle when trying to escape from the attack of a tribal group.
The play brought to fore the way people seek love and camaraderie and undergo heartbreak amidst the ravages of war.
The Punjabi Theatre Festival is set to feature Amarjit Grewal’s latest play, ‘Deihi’ on Tuesday evening.
