Hisar MC launches cleanliness drive ahead of PM Modi’s visit
In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit, the Municipal Corporation (MC) of Hisar has initiated a special cleanliness and beautification drive across the city to enhance urban sanitation and public aesthetics.
Municipal Commissioner Neeraj informed that 10 garbage-vulnerable points across the town have already been transformed into clean and green public spaces. “The transformation of the remaining 25 locations is underway and will be completed within a week,” he said. The initiative aims to promote cleanliness, civic responsibility and sustainable urban development, he added.
As part of the beautification efforts, previously neglected sites—once associated with garbage dumping and unhygienic conditions—have been converted into welcoming community areas through the installation of benches and decorative planters. “We hope that the change not only discourages littering but also fosters a culture of cleanliness among citizens,” Neeraj said.
The ongoing initiative is being conducted under the “Swachh Hisar” campaign, which runs from April 1 to April 14. It coincides with the PM’s scheduled visit for the inauguration of the Hisar Airport and also aligns with celebrations for Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Jayanti.
The Municipal Commissioner also acknowledged the active involvement of local residents in supporting the campaign. He appealed to the public to take pride in the newly upgraded public spaces and to contribute towards maintaining them. “The MC also aims to replicate this model at other locations across the town in the near future,” he commented.
