Rekha asks officials to hold weekly jansamvad camps

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting with District Magistrates (DMs) of all 11 revenue districts to assess ongoing administrative work, streamline service delivery and boost coordination across departments.

Stressing the need for citizen-centric governance, the CM directed officials to hold weekly jansamvad camps in every district for prompt redressal of public grievances.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister issued a series of key directives aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency and responsiveness at the district level.

“People of Delhi deserve a system that listens, understands and acts swiftly. Regular dialogue with citizens is non-negotiable,” said CM Rekha Gupta, while instructing DMs to conduct field visits and intensify engagement with local communities.

Reiterating her government’s stance on corruption, the Chief Minister announced a zero-tolerance policy, particularly in cases related to issuance of certificates under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.

“Strict action will be taken against any irregularities. Clean and transparent governance is our top priority,” she asserted.

The Chief Minister said paperless and faceless property registration system would soon be implemented in Delhi. It would eliminate the need for repeated visits to government offices, make the process digital and transparent and reduce the role of middlemen. A list of non-saleable properties will also be released to curb fraudulent transactions.

In a bid to ensure better living conditions in underprivileged areas, the CM directed DMs to intensify inspections in slum clusters and verify the availability of basic amenities. Additionally, all DMs have been instructed to submit detailed progress reports on developmental projects within 15 days.

The meeting also focused on improving e-district portal, which is used for delivering various citizen services. CM said the platform would be upgraded to enhance user experience and speed up service delivery. She also announced plans to increase technical manpower at the DM offices, including the appointment of patwaris, kanungos and surveyors, to resolve land-related and civic issues efficiently.

Addressing the growing issue of visual pollution, the Chief Minister said the ongoing drive to remove illegal banners and posters from public properties would continue with strict enforcement. “Action will be taken under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. Government spaces like flyovers, road signs and school walls will not be allowed to be misused,” she said.

Further, the CM directed the district heads to actively monitor and resolve civic issues such as waterlogging, cleanliness, encroachments and traffic jams, stating that these day-to-day challenges must be addressed on a priority.

The CM concluded the meeting by reaffirming her government’s commitment to efficient, transparent and people-first governance.
