IIT Mandi engineer awarded fellow membership of IEI
Vijay Kumar Sharma, Superintending Engineer at IIT Mandi, has been awarded the prestigious fellow membership by the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of civil engineering. With over three decades of professional experience, Sharma has played a key role in numerous major infrastructure projects across Himachal Pradesh.
In addition to the fellowship, Sharma has also been conferred the Chartered Engineer (India) Certificate, further acknowledging his expertise and leadership in the engineering domain.
Sharma began his career with BSNL Construction, where he served for 29 years, working on critical infrastructure such as telephone exchange buildings, staff colonies, mobile towers, and other major civil projects across the state. His notable achievements include the construction of polytechnic colleges, hospitals, and multiple government schools in Himachal Pradesh.
Since joining IIT Mandi, Sharma has led significant initiatives in infrastructure development on campus. It was his exceptional performance over the past two years at the institute that earned him the prestigious recognition from the IEI.
