‘Care on Wheels’ initiative launched to boost healthcare in remote areas

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dhani Ram Shandil flagged off three mobile healthcare vehicles under the ‘Care on Wheels’ initiative on Monday, aimed at extending medical services to residents of Mandi, Kangra, and Solan districts.

These specially equipped vehicles are designed to deliver a range of healthcare services directly to remote and underserved communities. Patients will benefit from over 25 types of diagnostic tests, including TB screenings through X-rays, complete blood counts, albumin levels, HDL, uric acid, and cholesterol assessments.

Each vehicle is outfitted with modern medical equipment such as hand-held X-ray devices, palliative care units, and other advanced diagnostic tools. A team of doctors and paramedical staff will operate these mobile units, ensuring access to quality healthcare right at the doorstep of those in need.

The initiative has been made possible through the support of Apollo Hospitals and HDFC Bank under their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.(Present at the launch were NHM Mission Director Priyanka Verma, Deputy Mission Director Dr Gopal Beri, and other dignitaries who expressed hope that the initiative would bridge critical healthcare gaps in the targeted districts.
