Rajesh Ranjha elected prez of state govt teachers’ body
As many as 2,316 faculty members from 184 government colleges across the state cast their votes on Sunday to elect the new president along with five other office-bearers of the All Haryana Government College Teachers’ Association.
Rajesh Ranjha, associate professor in the department of history at Pt. Chiranji Lal Sharma Government College, Sector 14, Karnal, has been elected as president. He got 1,476 votes, while his opponent Balram Yadav got 719 votes.
Gurpreet Kaur has been elected vice-president, while Lieutenant Anil emerged victorious for the post of general secretary and Sonu has been elected joint secretary. Besides, Harsh Nandal was elected secretary (finance) and Manoj Kumar secured the post of organisational secretary.
As per the election process, all colleges were divided into seven zones. Pt CLS Government College, Karnal, was designated as one of the zones and its responsibilities were assigned to Dr Kamal Kumar.
Ranjha was welcomed by the faculty members of the college. He said the victory belonged to all his colleagues, and he would make every effort to live up to their expectations.
