Study reveals top 10 ‘Polite’ British phrases— and their surprisingly savage translations
A recent study by Trinity College London reveals that Britons frequently use "polite-isms" to avoid confrontation, employing around 14 such phrases daily. These indirect expressions, prevalent in the workplace and among friends, mask true feelings and prevent tension. Interestingly, people are more direct online and in foreign languages, while the use of "please" can sometimes backfire.
