At the heart of MI’s batting woes is former skipper Rohit Sharma, who missed the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants after taking a blow to the knee in the nets. His form was already in question after a sluggish start to the tournament. Middle-order batter Tilak Varma has also been unable to capitalize on his starts, failing to deliver match-defining knocks.

Rohit’s fitness remains uncertain ahead of the RCB match, but MI desperately need a turnaround — and Suryakumar Yadav continuing his strong form will be crucial. With 177 runs to his name, the India T20I captain is MI’s top scorer this season. His recent half-century against LSG offered a ray of hope, though it came alongside Tilak’s inability to push on, which left too much for the lower order to do.

Despite Hardik Pandya’s impressive five-wicket haul, MI couldn’t chase down LSG’s total. A lack of firepower in the lower middle order cost them again. Pandya did try to lead the charge with a spirited 28 off 16 balls but lacked support at the other end.

Their sole victory this season came against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede, and they’ll be hoping to replicate that success. For visiting RCB, this is a prime opportunity to capitalize on MI’s fragile batting. Virat Kohli started the season with an unbeaten 59 against KKR but has struggled since. Still, RCB boasts a dynamic lineup — with Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal offering explosive starts, and skipper Rajat Patidar providing stability when needed.

One player to watch is Tim David, the former MI finisher. Familiar with Wankhede’s dimensions, the powerful Australian could be a game-changer for RCB, capable of inflicting damage with the bat late in the innings.
