Jagar 2025: Professor Pravin Davane Delivers Stirring Tribute To Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar In Navi Mumbai

Author and orator Prof. Pravin Davane delivered a stirring lecture in honour of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as part of the ‘Jagar 2025’ lecture series organized by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). Held at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial in Airoli, the event was organised to commemorate Ambedkar Jayanti and attracted an engaged audience who were moved by Prof. Davane’s reflections on Ambedkar’s towering legacy.

Speaking on the theme “Youth Icon: Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar,” Prof. Davane described Ambedkar as a visionary who transformed adversity into opportunity, creating a path not just for personal success, but for the upliftment of an entire society. “Dr. Ambedkar is India’s greatest blessing—he turned every rejection into determination and planted the seeds of justice and equality even in the harshest soil,” Davane said.

Davane explored Ambedkar’s early life, marked by acute poverty and social discrimination, and how these struggles shaped his resolve. “Before he found his voice, he had already encountered the burning questions of society. And in search of answers, he turned to books, to global experiences, and to relentless study,” he said. He emphasised how education, observation, and inner strength helped Babasaheb rise to become one of India’s tallest leaders.

He also highlighted Ambedkar’s special bond with the youth, citing his famous addresses such as “Students, Arise!” and his 13 years of teaching, culminating in the founding of Siddharth College to empower future generations. “Ambedkar believed that professors must be not just scholars, but deeply read individuals who inspire thought. He encouraged young people to treat life as a laboratory and seek truth through every sense,” Davane remarked.

In a particularly moving segment, Davane stressed that despite deep personal injustice, Ambedkar never carried vengeance in his heart. “His fire was guided by compassion,” he said, lauding Ambedkar’s inclusive approach and emotional strength.

He also recounted how Ambedkar’s father, a soldier, instilled discipline and a love for books in him from childhood. “His life tells us—what you do, do as if you’re building the nation. That is the true homage to Dr. Ambedkar,” said Davane, drawing long applause from the audience.

Attendees described the session as emotionally powerful and intellectually enriching, with many saying they gained a new appreciation of Dr. Ambedkar’s life and values.
