Chhattisgarh: 26 Maoists Surrender In Dantewada, Inspired By 'Lon Varratu' Campaign (VIDEO)
Raipur/Dantewada: 26 Maoists including three carrying a bounty of altogether Rs 4.5 lakhs surrendered before police in Dantewada police headquarters on Monday.
The Maoists were encouraged and inspired by the government-run Lon Varratu (Come Home) campaign and finally surrendered, police said. Among the surrendered Maoists, Amdai Area Janmilitia Commander (1), Gampur RPC Jantana Sarkar President, 20 Maoists are from Bechapal RPC Militia, CNM and DAKMS members, 03 Keshkutul RPC Militia and DAKSS members, and 01 Gudse RPC DAKMS member.
As per the police, surrendered Maoist Rajesh Kashyap was active as Amdai Area Janmilitia Commander and carries a reward of Rs 3 lakh from the Government of Chhattisgarh similarly, the Maoist Kosa Madvi was active as Jantana Sarkar President and carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Meanwhile, surrendered Maoist Chhotu Kunjam was active as a CNM member and carries a reward of Rs 50,000.
All the surrendered Maoists were involved in incidents of digging roads and putting up Naxal banners and posters in their respective areas, Dantewada police said.
