Sonu Sood Urges People To Wear Seat Belts, Shares Road Safety Message Days After Wife Sonali's Near-Fatal Car Accident (VIDEO)

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood recently took to social media to share a personal and powerful message about road safety, and talked about the life-saving importance of seat belts - especially for passengers seated in the back.

The Fateh actor opened up about a recent road accident involving his wife Sonali Sood, her nephew, and sister in Nagpur. Sharing the chilling experience via an Instagram video, Sood credited seat belts for protecting his family during the horrific crash.

"There is a very important message. Last week, there was a very big accident in Nagpur, in which my wife, her nephew, and her sister were inside the car. The whole world has seen the condition of the car. You know that if anyone saved them, it was the seat belt," he said.

He stressed how most people sitting at the back often ignore seat belts, thinking they’re only necessary for front-seat passengers. Sood recalled the critical moment before the crash when his wife insisted her sister-in-law wear the seat belt, a decision that likely saved all their lives.

"Especially those who sit in the back, they don't wear seat belts. That day, when Sumita was also sitting in the car, my wife, who was there, asked her to wear the seat belt immediately. She wore the it and the accident happened after a minute. And all three were safe because they wore the seat belt," the actor added.

Sood continued to shed light on a dangerous misconception: that rear passengers don’t need to buckle up. "99 out of 100 people who sit in the back never wear seat belts," he said, urging everyone to make safety a priority no matter where they sit in the vehicle.

"They feel that wearing the seat belt is only the responsibility of the person in front. I request all of you not to sit in the car without the seat belt. Many drivers just put a seat belt in front for effect. Seat belts never clip. And they feel that they have to save themselves from the police, so it is important to show the seat belt in front," Sonu further mentioned.

In a heartfelt conclusion, Sood reminded people that a seat belt could be the difference between life and death. "Believe me, if you and your family have something attached, that seat belt, please wear it. Whoever is sitting in the back, if you don't have a seat belt, you don't have a family. All the best, safe travels," he said.

Sonali met with a major car accident on the Mumbai-Nagpur highway last month.

Sonu and Sonali got married in 1996, and the two are proud parents to sons, Ayaan and Ishant.
