But some success stories motivate those aspirants who never thought of cracking the civil services exam. One such story is of Akash Kulhari, who was not a brilliant student and was thrown out of school but still passed the UPSC exam in his first attempt. Let’s know his story.

Who Is Akash Kulhari?

Akash was born in Rajasthan’s Bikaner. He was not a bright student and faced several challenges in his studies. His school refused to give him admission in Class 11, as he had scored only 57 percent marks in Class 10. He then took admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya. But this time, he worked very hard and scored 85 percent marks in Class 12.

Journey From B.Com To Master’s

After completing his schooling, Akash earned his B.Com degree from Bikaner’s Duggal College. Then he went to Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and earned his MA degree. He then applied for M.Phil and started preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Passed UPSC In The First Attempt

Akash Kulhari, a 2006 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, achieved a rank of 273 in the 2005 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. He currently serves as Inspector General (IG) (Public Grievances)/Director General of Police (DGP) Headquarters in the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
