After evading capture for over two and a half years, a notorious thief in Maharashtra's Latur was finally caught hiding in a sewer on Sunday. The thief, identified as Ashok, had been on the run after committing multiple animal thefts, including stealing buffaloes from Udgir in Latur district.

As per the report by News 18 Marathi, When the police came to catch him, he was hiding in the sewer. The police took the drenched thief from the sewer to a car washing center and washed him thoroughly. He has been active not only in Maharashtra but also in Karnataka for the past many years.

The police received information from informers that he had come to Latur. When Ashok realized that the police were coming to catch him, he went straight to the sewer and hid, leaving only his face outside. However, the police managed to pull Ashok out, who was covered in dirt from the sewer. Even after all this, he was struggling to escape, trying to throw dirt on the police so that he could flee.

The police picked Ashok up from the sewer and brought him directly to a washing center, where he was washed thoroughly. This news spread quickly in the area, attracting a crowd of onlookers at the washing center.

All this happened in the railway station area. After washing Ashok with water, the police took him to the police station. However, Ashok’s washing became a topic of discussion for the whole day.

He used to steal animals in Maharashtra and Karnataka and was adept at stealing buffaloes in Udgir and some parts of Karnataka. The police have arrested Ashok, and the Udgir police are investigating where he stole animals and where he sold them.
