Bumrah rejoined the Mumbai Indians camp having recovered from injury following the Sydney Test against Australia. Mumbai's head coach Mahela Jayawardene expressed his optimism about Bumrah’s return, believing his presence will bring a significant boost to the team.

Bumrah has been away for a while, so we have to give him time and not expect too much right away. But knowing Jasprit, he’ll be ready to give his best,”
The coach also highlighted the added value Bumrah brings in mentoring younger bowlers. He added, “His advice on the field, talking to the bowlers and sharing his experience, will be crucial for us.”
