This year, Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on April 12, 2025. According to the Vedic Panchang, the Chaitra Purnima Tithi will begin at 3:21 AM on April 12 and end at 5:51 AM on April 13. As per the tradition, the celebrations will take place on April 12 itself.

Significance Of Hanuman Jayanti:

Lord Hanuman was born on a Tuesday, which is why Tuesdays are considered especially auspicious for his worship. Saturdays are also regarded as favourable days for offering prayers to him. He is known as the 11th incarnation (Rudra avatar) of Lord Shiva and possesses divine and supernatural powers.

Born to Anjani and Kesari, Hanuman is also revered as the son of Vayu (Wind God), hence the name Pavan Putra. He is worshipped as the symbol of strength, wisdom, and devotion and is believed to possess the Ashta Siddhis (eight divine powers) and Nav Nidhis (nine types of wealth).

Hanuman – The Immortal Among The Chiranjeevis:

According to Hindu scriptures, there are eight immortals or Chiranjeevis, who are believed to be eternally alive. Hanuman is one of them. The sacred verse related to these immortals reads:

"Ashwatthama Balir Vyaso Hanumanscha Vibhishanah
Kripah Parashuramascha Saptaitai Chiranjivinah
Saptaitan Samsmarennityam Markandeyamathashtamam
Jivedvarshashatam Sopisarvavyadhivivarjitah"

Thi means, Ashwatthama, King Bali, Ved Vyasa, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Kripacharya, Parashuram, and Markandeya – these eight are considered immortal. Remembering them every day brings long life and freedom from diseases.

Puja Vidhi For Hanuman Jayanti:

  • Begin your day during Brahma Muhurat (pre-dawn hours), as Hanuman was born during sunrise.
  • Clean your home and purify it by sprinkling Ganga Jal (holy water).
  • After bathing, offer prayers at a Hanuman temple or at home.
  • Offer vermilion (sindoor) and chola (a sacred cloth) to the deity.
  • Apply jasmine oil (chameli ka tel), which is considered dear to Hanuman.
  • Perform rituals with flowers, incense sticks, lamps, and offerings like paan (betel leaf with gulkand and almonds).
  • Recite Hanuman Chalisa, Sundarkand, and Hanuman Aarti.
  • Light a mustard oil lamp and distribute prasadam (offering) after the aarti.
