Tourists fined Rs 2,500 for reckless behaviour in Lahaul valley

A shocking incident unfolded yesterday in the Lahaul Valley of the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti, when a video surfaced on social media showing tourists violating traffic rules. The video, which quickly went viral, captured the tourists hanging out of the windows of a moving car while travelling through the region.

The video was flagged by the social media cell of the police headquarters, which promptly alerted the District police of Lahaul and Spiti. In response, local authorities acted swiftly, imposing a fine of Rs 2,500 on the offenders under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The district police have urged the public to adhere to traffic rules to ensure the safety of both themselves and others. They said any violation of traffic laws would result in strict legal action to maintain road safety in the region.

Authorities also called on everyone to remain vigilant and comply with traffic regulations, stressing such reckless actions not only jeopardise the individuals involved but also pose a significant risk to other road users.
