Jind varsity students explore broadcasting studios, media trends at MDU
Students and faculty members of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind, visited the department of journalism and mass communication at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here recently to foster academic exchange and introduce CRSU students to the cutting-edge broadcasting technology and practices in the field of journalism.
During the visit, the students explored the department’s state-of-the-art TV and radio studios, gaining a first-hand experience about the technical aspects of broadcasting. The students were able to observe news telecasting and live streaming in action, providing them with valuable insights into the dynamic world of media production.
Assistant professor Dr Naveen Kumar discussed career prospects in electronic media, emerging trends in journalism and mass communication and the importance of media skills. He also provided a detailed overview of TV studio operations. Assistant professor Sunit Mukherjee shed light on the MDU’s history, its development journey and the department’s achievements.
Professor Harish Kumar, head, journalism and mass communication, MDU stated that the objective of this interaction was to familiarise CRSU students with broadcasting technology, thereby fostering a stronger bond between the students of both universities.
Prof Kumar emphasised that collaborative dialogue with emerging universities such as the CRSU would pave a new path for future discussions, benefiting both institutions. Such academic visits fulfil the broader objectives of the National Education Policy.
Dr Balram Bind, head of the department of journalism and mass communication at the CRSU, Jind, expressed gratitude to the department for hosting the interactive session and visit. The students also visited the Vivekananda Library at the MDU, where they were introduced to the library’s facilities by Librarian Dr Satish Malik.
The visiting team included Dr Gaurav Narwal, Poonam Khatkar, Dr Krishna Kumar, Dr Pradeep Kumar, Satyawan, Twinkle Sandhu, Vijay Laxmi, and Shailendra.
The visit marks a significant step in building a collaborative relationship between the CRSU and the MDU, and it is expected to encourage further academic and practical exchanges in the future.
