IPL 2025: Mohammed Siraj joins Jasprit Bumrah in elite list with stunning performance against SRH

New Delhi: Mohammed Siraj has now etched his name among the top Indian pacers in IPL history, becoming the 12th Indian bowler to claim 100 wickets in the tournament during Gujarat Titans’ away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

Playing for GT, Siraj dominated the powerplay, removing the dangerous opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to reach the landmark. What made this achievement even more significant was that he accomplished it in his hometown of Hyderabad.

The pacer claimed the crucial wicket of Head on the last ball of the opening over as the batter attempted to flick it to the mid-wicket area but ended up finding Sai Sudharshan, who took a superb low catch. Siraj then dismissed Abhishek Sharma in his third over during the powerplay. Sharma tried to launch a big shot over long-on, only to find Rahul Tewatia positioned near the boundary, who made the catch.

He added a third wicket to his collection in the death overs, dismissing Aniket Verma. Siraj then claimed his fourth wicket, removing Simarjeet Singh by toppling the stumps in an impressive fashion.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, currently representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, holds the record for the most wickets among Indian pacers, with 183 wickets to his name.

Siraj will aim to maintain his excellent form this season and work towards reclaiming his spot in the Indian team. He hasn’t been part of the national squad since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour, where India suffered a heavy defeat against Australia, ending a decade-long winning streak. He was also overlooked for the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, in which India went on to win the title.

However, after taking some time away from the game, Siraj appears to have regained his rhythm and is once again making an impact with the ball in this season’s IPL.
