Punjab In Chaos Under AAP Rule, Says Congress State Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring

Chandigarh: Alleging that there is a complete anarchy in Punjab under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday held that the case of Punjab police constable Amandeep Kaur, arrested recently in a drug case, is a slap on the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign.

Speaking at a workers’ gathering in Ludhiana, Warring held that the said case is just the tip of the iceberg and the matter needs an independent probe, suggesting that the Punjab police cannot do justice in the matter for obvious reasons.

Warring said, Aamndeep’s case was just an example of what has gone wrong with Punjab under the AAP government. He alleged that while there is an atmosphere of fear with the gangsters ruling the roost, the common man was suffering as his voice was not being heard.

He alleged that Punjab had gone back by 25 years as the AAP government had derailed the state’s economy and amassed a huge debt burden on the state. He further alleged that the debt accumulated and multiplied by the AAP government will have to be paid by the people of Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, urged the judiciary to take suo-moto notice of Punjab police constable Amandeep Kaur’s drugs case and sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), saying Punjab police cannot be trusted on the matter since its own official was involved.

Bajwa further alleged that there were many powerful and influential people linked with the case and that is why a probe by an independent agency is necessary.

For record, Punjab police had Thursday dismissed woman constable Amandeep Kaur, from service, a day after she was caught with 17.71 gram heroin in Bathinda amid the Punjab govt’s ongoing drive `yudh nasheyan virudh’ (war against drugs). Amandeep had caught attention with reels of her flamboyant lifestyle as she often posted reels with her Thar on Instagram where she has over 30,000 followers.

The police is now investigating her alleged drug trafficking network and financial trails while it is alleged that she used to escape police checks due to her ``high-level connections'' with senior police officers.
