Police, security agencies on high alert after hoax bomb threat at Kaithal police naka

A hoax grenade attack alert at Azimgarh naka under Mahmoodpur police post in Kaithal district near the Punjab border caused panic among officials as well as locals on Sunday. Following the viral message, police officials rushed to the spot, fearing a possible terror threat. Fortunately, the information turned out to be false.

As per the information, a post went viral on social media in which the banned terror group Babbar Khalsa claimed responsibility for a supposed grenade attack at around 4 am at the police naka.

After receiving the information, senior officers from Patiala and Kaithal district rushed to the post. ASI Rajesh Kumar, in-charge, Mahmoodpur police post, dismissed the message as a rumour, confirming that no attack had taken place and the area remained peaceful. The police are investigating the origin of the misleading post.

Cyber Cell has been alerted and an in-depth investigation has been initiated. Officials say the viral message could be part of a larger conspiracy to disrupt peace. Security agencies have also been placed on high alert to monitor the online activities of the banned group.
