Anant Ambani’s Vantara: Anant Ambani’s Vantara, a sanctuary home to over 200 elephants; over 300 large cats, including leopards, tigers, lions and jaguars and hundreds of other animals has been in news recently due to various reasons. Vantara, meaning ‘Star Of The Forest,’ is an animal shelter maintained by Reliance Industries and the Reliance Foundation. One of the dream projects of Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, the 3,000-acre rehabilitation centre aims to rescue and care for abused, injured, and endangered animals.

However, one of the most important questions that might have came up in your mind is regarding the total cost of maintenance of the project. Here are all the details you need about the animal welfare project.

Situated in Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex, the Green Belt Of Gujarat, Vantara features a 600-acre elephant sanctuary with advanced medical care including jacuzzis and hyperbaric chambers. It also houses a 1 lakh sq ft hospital, research centers, and scientifically designed enclosures with hydrotherapy pools. As per media reports, Reliance led by Mukesh Ambani spends crores of money eveey year to maintain the Vantara project.

For an example, a single surgical procedure for an elephant reportedly cost approximately ₹2 crore (around $240,000).

PM Modi inaugurates Vantara in Jamnagar

In the historic development, PM Modi inaugurated the Anant Ambani initiative Vantara, which is an animal rescue, conservation and rehabilitation centre. Notably, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani, their son Anant Ambani and daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant were also present at the moment, as per a report by news agency ANI.

While he was on the visit to the place, PM Modi explored various facilities at the centre and closely interacted with various animals. Additionally, PM Modi also checked the MRI, CT scans, and ICUs  equipped wildlife hospital at Vantara and saw the veterinary facilities among other things.

The last but not the least, PM Modi’s visit also included heartwarming interactions with the centre’s resident animals. In a video that was shared online, PM Modi could be seen playing with and feeding various species including Asiatic Lion cubs, White Lion cub, Clouded Leopard cub which is a rare and endangered species, Caracal cub among others.
