Later, veteran actor Manoj Kumar said goodbye to the world on April 4, 2025. The actor was 87 when he took his last breath. Further, his last rites were done on April 5, 2025. Manoj Kumar was one of the brilliant film directors and actors of Hindi cinema. His films used to awaken a feeling of patriotism in the audience. Over the years, the actor has given several hit films. However, one of his films, Shor, had a very interesting story which not many people know about.

Manoj Kumar directed the film Shor, and the movie was released in 1972. He not only directed the film but also acted in the movie. In an earlier interview, the late veteran actor revealed that he wanted to cast Sharmila Tagore as the lead actress. However, things did not work out between them. His second choice was Smita Patil, but she also refused.

Later, when Manoj opened up about his situation to his wife Shashi, she recommended him to talk to actress Nanda. When Manoj had a word with Nanda, she agreed to do the film but kept a unique condition. She told Manoj that she wouldn’t take a single penny from him as the fees. The actor, in the interview, said that he felt guilt for not being able to pay Nanda as he was himself going through a financial crunch.

Apart from Manoj, the movie Shor also featured Jaya Bachchan, Prem Nath, Madan Puri, and Asrani in supporting roles.

Talking about the story of the film, Shankar (Manoj Kumar) loses his wife Geeta (Nanda) in an accident, who dies while saving their son Deepak. Deepak also loses his voice in this accident. While the doctor asks to get a surgery done for his son, Shankar couldn’t afford it due to financial crunch. The climax of the film will leave you teary-eyed.
