Campus notes: Cybersecurity awareness event

Sessions on mindfulness and cybersecurity were conducted during a NSS camp organised recently at Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic. Volunteers engaged in cleaning the campus and watering plants, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. This was followed by a mindfulness session conducted by an expert instructor Lovlina. She was welcomed by Principal Anil Kumar, NSS Officer Richa Kharbanda and the volunteers. Lovlina taught meditation exercises and highlighted the significance of mindfulness in daily life, sharing practical applications to enhance mental wellbeing. In the second session, ASI Anil and ASI Baldev from the Cyber Crime Department addressed the volunteers and staff on digital safety. They cautioned against emerging cyber threats and stressed the importance of vigilance in online interactions/transactions. Volunteers and staff members took an oath to wear helmets and follow road-safety guidelines. The event concluded with an interactive session on digital security measures.

First aid training session

Yamunanagar: A one-day training session on first aid and disaster management was organised by the Youth Red Cross Cell, Disaster Management Cell and the Red Ribbon Club of Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar. Dr Rupender Kumar and Dr Umang Bareja were the conveners for the event. According to the university, the event’s objective was to provide the participants with necessary life-saving skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations. District Training Officer Shashi Bhushan, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Jasbir Singh and Project Manager Sunita Sharma from Red Cross Society, Yamunanagar, were among those present at the event. Participants were told about various aspects of disaster management, including first aid, rescue techniques and emergency-response protocols. Nearly 100 students and employees of the college received training on first aid, fire extinguishing and other disaster responses. Officiating Principal Anil Dhawan said such sessions enabled students to stay safe and create awareness in society, which could save someone’s life in emergency situations.

International Sports day

Yamunanagar: To celebrate International Sports Day and Bagless Day, Mukand Lal Public School, Sarojini Colony, Yamunanagar, organised an inter-school hockey match on its campus for students of classes III-V. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from various Mukand institutes across the city. An inter-house basketball match for classes IX-XII, a shot-put contest for classes IV-V and fun games for classes I-II were also organised during the event. Principal Seema Kataria congratulated the participants and encouraged them to keep participating in sports activities to develop confidence, discipline and team spirit. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
