IRCTC News: Indian Railways has witnessed a massive transformation in the last 10 years after Narendra Modi came into power. The government has implemented a slew of measures to improve and enhance the passengers’ traveling experience. The authorities are continually working to develop passenger amenities. In a recent move, Indian Railways has introduced a new service that allows passengers to order meals from the IRCTC website and have them delivered straight to their seats.

But did you know there is a unique train in India in which passengers are provided with langar (community meals), allowing them to enjoy free breakfast, lunch, and dinner? This special train is the Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express, which runs between Nanded and Amritsar.

In the year 1995, this train used to run once a week. Later, it started running twice a week. During 1997–1998, it began operating five days a week. Since 2007, the train has been running every day of the week.

  • From general class to AC coaches, all passengers usually bring their own utensils.
  • At New Delhi and Dabra stations, langar is served in both directions of the journey.

It is important to note that the food served in the langar varies each day, and its expenses are covered through donations received by the gurdwaras. The langar meals include dishes like kadhi-chawal, chole, dal, khichdi, and aloo-gobhi or other vegetables.
