Over 30 unrecognised pvt schools identified in Ambala
The office of the District Elementary Education Officer has released a list of over 30 unrecognised or unauthorised primary and middle private schools in the district and directed the officials to stop fresh admissions in such schools.
As per the information, a list of 33 primary and middle schools (11 each in Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment blocks, five each in Barara and Saha blocks and one in Naraingarh block) have been prepared by the office. The list has been sent to the block-level officials with directions to initiate action and ensure no fresh admissions. The department has also issued a list of 124 recognised primary and middle private schools in the district.
Without recognition, no admissions
The block education officers will ensure that students get admissions only in government and recognised private schools. In case, any school is found in operation without obtaining recognition from the department, action will be taken against the school, and the official concerned as well.

Ambala DEEO Sudhir Kalra said: “Following the directions received from the higher authorities, two lists of recognised and unrecognised or unauthorised schools (from Class 1 to 8) have been prepared and shared with the block education officers for further action. The BEOs will ensure that students get admissions only in the government and recognised private schools. In case, any school is found in operation without obtaining recognition from the department, action will be taken against the school, and the official concerned as well.”
“It has been observed that in some cases, people obtained permissions to run playway schools, but they were running classes up to primary and middle level. We are still obtaining information about the unrecognised private schools in operation and more schools may be added on the list in the coming days. The parents are also appealed to get all information regarding the schools before getting their children enrolled in a school to avoid any inconvenience at a later stage," he added.
Besides this, a list of 172 high and senior secondary schools was released by the office of District Education Officer recently. Of the total 172, seven schools were temporary closed.
District Education Officer (DEO) Suresh Kumar, said “The department has released a list of recognised schools. Only the recognised schools are allowed to operate, and action will be initiated against the unrecognised schools being run in the district. Directions have been issued to the officials concerned.”
Meanwhile, Kulbhushan Sharma, president, National Independent Schools Alliance, said “We have repeatedly requested the government to relax some norms related to infrastructure and land due to which the affected schools are not able to get recognition. At the same time, there are a large number of government schools, where the same norms are not being fulfilled.”
“In such a situation, action only against the private schools is morally wrong. Children can be seen taking classes in corridors and buildings in poor condition. The government should first give an affidavit that all its schools fulfill the norms and then take action against the private schools” he added.
