2nd Rastogi-Dash Clinical Case Conference begins at PGI

The second Rastogi-Dash Clinical Case Conference on thyroid disorders commenced today at the PGIMER, Chandigarh, drawing over 300 medical professionals from across the country. The event, organised by the Department of Endocrinology, aims to deepen clinical understanding and promote innovation in thyroid disorder management.

Inaugurating the conference, Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, paid tributes to the department’s legacy, acknowledging stalwarts like Prof GK Rastogi and Prof RJ Dash. “Their vision laid the groundwork for our current excellence,” he remarked, while highlighting PGIMER’s ongoing commitment to patient care amid healthcare challenges.

Prof Sanjay Bhadada, head of Endocrinology Department and conference chairman, reflected on the department’s evolution — from a small team to a thriving academic unit with 100 students. He proudly noted that India’s first DM programme in endocrinology began at the PGIMER, crediting Prof Dash for his foundational role.

The conference featured thought-provoking case presentations on the first day, including thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy, euthyroid Graves’ disease, Turner syndrome and innovative treatment strategies like plasmapheresis, by experts and alumni from across the country.

Prof Lal also shared plans for a new endocrinology centre in Sarangpur, reaffirming PGIMER’s dedication to growth despite funding constraints. The day concluded with tributes to Prof Rastogi and Prof Dash, and the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr MV Muraleedharan for his outstanding contributions to endocrinology.
