Viral video of assault in Sissu prompts cops to act
A video showing an assault in Sissu, Lahaul and Spiti district, went viral today on social media, drawing the attention of the district police’s Social Media Cell.
According to the Lahaul and Spiti police, the video, filmed three days ago, was shot near the Zip Line area in Sissu (Pagal Nala). It shows an altercation between three individuals and tourists, all of whom work at the Zip Line in Sissu.
Keylong Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar said the suspects had been identified as Om Bahadur Pariyar (22), Pema Sherpa (25), both Nepali resident and Yanshul (19), a native of Mandi district.
“Although no formal written complaint has been filed by any party, the district police have initiated legal action against the individuals as per standard operating procedure. We are coordinating with the Social Media Cell, Keylong police station and Koksar police post to identify the tourists involved for further investigation,” DSP Kumar said.
The police officials have issued an appeal through the Public Announcement System (PA System) urging both local residents and tourists to avoid areas near rivers and streams and immediately report any incidents of misconduct to the nearest police station or dial 112 for assistance.
