Hisar agri varsity’s Bawal research station gets award
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University’s Bawal Regional Research Station in Rewari district has been awarded the Best Volunteer Centre Award for its contributions to groundnut research.
Vice-Chancellor BR Kamboj has congratulated scientists of regional research station for the achievement.
The VC said the scientists of the station were awarded the honour for developing an improved variety of groundnut GNH 804.
The variety gave more yield and oil content and would prove beneficial to farmers of oilseed producing states, he added. He asked scientists to continue such quality research.
Regional Director (RRS-Bawal) Dharambir Yadav said the award was conferred on the centre for its work on the improved variety of peanut GNH 804, making recommendations related to nutrients in agronomy at the national level, setting up front-line demonstrations of peanut, training farmers and extension workers and promoting peanut cultivation in the area.
Director (Research) Rajbir Garg, Regional Director Dharambir Yadav and scientists researching peanut — Dr Ashok Kumar Dahinwal, Dr Amarjeet — and Plant Breeding Department head Gajraj Dahiya contributed to the research.
