Govt committed to developing Panipat as smart city, says Education Minister

Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said the state government was committed to developing Panipat as a modern and smart city.

Dhanda directed officials of the Municipal Corporation (MC) to complete all development works within the stipulated time frame and also warned that any kind of negligence would not be tolerated.

Dhanda along with Mayor Komal Saini held a meeting for reviewing the development works with the newly elected councillors from the wards under the Panipat rural constituency, MC Commissioner Dr Pankaj Yadav, Additional Commissioner Vivek Chaudhary and other officers on Friday evening.

He reviewed all ongoing development works and discussed future plannings for the overall development of the city.

Saini said development works — construction of roads, sewage management, cleanliness, beautification of the parks — were going on in the city. The newly elected councillors raised their problems related to sewerage, repair of roads, non-functional streetlights, waterlogging and cleanliness before the minister. The Minister assured the councillors that he would resolve their issues on priority and also directed the officials to resolve the people’s grievances soon.

The Education Minister also discussed the completion of the pending development works at the earliest, to increase the number of sanitation employees to make the city clean and beautiful, to beautify the parks and other public places by planting new plants and by making better seating arrangements. Dhanda also discussed for uninterrupted power and potable water supply to the residents and to strengthen the street lights.

Education Minister Dhanda assured all the councillors that the state government would provide all help for the development of the city and also said that councillors are public representatives and it is their responsibility to resolve people’s problems on priority and work together with the MC.

The minister also directed that the officials should visit the field regularly so that the progress of development works could be assessed accurately.
