Feasibility Survey Gives Nod To Build 9 Flyovers On BRTS, Final Call To Be Taken After Consultation With Public Representatives

Indore(Madhya Pradesh): The feasibility and study report conducted by Indore Development Authority (IDA) has stressed the need to build flyovers and underpasses at 9 prominent squares of BRTS. Now the report will be discussed with public representatives and then a final call will be taken on this issue.  

This was informed in the meeting of District Road Safety Committee held here at the Collector office on Saturday. The need of building flyover at 11 other busy squares was also discussed. During the meeting, final warning was also given to those parking passenger buses on the roads that such buses would be confiscated.

A powerpoint presentation was also made of the feasibility survey and study report conducted by IDA regarding the construction of flyovers and underpasses at 9 squares located on BRTS.  The feasibility report said that it would be useful to construct flyovers and underpasses at these squares.

Collector Singh said that it will be finalised after discussion with public representatives. He also directed to decide the priority as per the need. It was told in the meeting that as per priority, construction can be started first at Shivaji Vatika, Navlakha, LIG, Geeta Bhawan, Palasia and MR-9 Squares.

The discussion was also held over the construction of flyovers or development work at 11 other busy squares. Among these, the utility of constructing flyovers at Tower, Chanakyapuri, Gopur and Agrasen Squares was discussed. It was told that constructing flyovers at these squares would be useful. Discussion was also held regarding the development of Agriculture College Square, Chhawani Square, Patrakar Colony Square, Azad Nagar Square, Janjirwala Square etc. It was stated that a flyover has to be constructed at Choithram Mandi Square.

Collector Asheesh Singh presided over the meeting. IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, Traffic DCP Arvind Tiwari, Smart City CEO Divyank Singh, additional commissioner of IMC Rohit Sisonia, CEO of IDA RP Ahirwar and officials of other related departments were present in the meeting.

Warning to operators for parking buses on roads

Collector Singh said that it is very important to make the city roads encroachment-free for smooth traffic. The ongoing campaign to make them encroachment-free should be speeded up. He gave a final warning to bus operators that they should not park buses on roads. Collector  Singh also directed to seize buses if they are parked on roads.
