Madhya Pradesh: Leopard Poaching; Carcass Stuck In Bushes, Legs, Body Parts Missing
Bagh (Madhya Pradesh): A leopard was found dead in forest area on Saturday with its carcass stuck in bushes, a forest official said.
Forest Department officials said the carcass of the leopard was found in Patalpura Falia under Pipriyapani gram panchayat and that the department was informed soon afterwards.
Field staff rushed to the spot and began investigations into the incident to ascertain the cause of death and a postmortem was conducted on the remains. Subsequently, carcass was cremated.
A team, including DFO Ashok Solanki and Bagh range officer Vaibhav Upadhyay, conducted a postmortem with three veterinary doctors. PM report revealed that hunters had brutally cut off the leopard's legs and other body parts, including a canine tooth and prostate gland. The officials said samples from the animal’s visceral organs were collected and sent for further analysis.
DFO Solanki said that immediate actions were taken following the report. A dog squad was deployed to the scene and statements from local villagers were collected as part of the investigation. Efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act. The incident has sparked outrage among wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists who are demanding stricter measures to protect endangered species.
