US student visa rejection rates increase for applicants from these 2 states
US Student Visa News: Student visa rejection in America has increased a lot compared to before. Some people have blamed President Donald Trump’s new policies for this. Students from two states of India are facing the most problems in America, because the visa rejection rate for them has increased a lot.
US Student Visa Rejections: There are two states in India, where it has become difficult for students to study in America. The reason for this is that the student visa applications of students from these two states are being rejected the most. The two states being talked about here are Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The visa rejection rate is increasing at a time when the maximum number of students from these two Telugu-speaking states are going to study in America. Studying in America is also quite popular among the students of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad-based study abroad consultants say that US officials are rejecting more than half of the student visa applications from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This is the highest in the last 20 years. Even students who have got admission in Ivy League universities are not getting visas. Speaking to the Times of India, Arvind Manduva of study abroad consultancy firm I20 Fever said that January was the worst month for us. The same seems to be the case for the upcoming summer intake.
For what reasons are visa applications getting rejected?
The most surprising thing here is that the US visa officers are not even telling why the student visa application has been rejected. However, after reviewing the rejected applications, consultancies believe that minor mistakes in personal information, education history or supporting documents are the reason for rejection. Earlier, if the main documents were correct, then such mistakes were ignored. But after Trump’s return, more strictness is being exercised.
Increasing rejection rate in America
Recently, a report of the US government was released regarding the 2023-24 academic year. It was told that in that academic year 6.79 lakh F-1 Visa (student visa) applications were received, out of which 2.79 lakh or 41% were rejected. The number of Indian students was very high in these rejected applications. Visas are also being given less due to students staying in America for longer than the visa period.
Sahas Yuvraj of Way2 Abroad Consultancy said that the number of students thinking of studying abroad is still stable. But many students are now hesitant. They are looking at other countries like Britain and Germany. In the UK too, Wales and Scotland are now being preferred more than London.
