Assam Cancels Remaining Class 11 Exams Due To Panchayat Elections

Assam HS First Year Exam: The State School Education Board has decided to cancel the remaining subjects for the Higher Secondary First Year (HS 1st Year) Examinations 2025, Assam's Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said on Friday. The cancellation is due to the upcoming Panchayat elections, with teachers engaged in election duties.

In a post on X, Pegu mentioned, "In view of the Panchayat Election process continuing until May 20, 2025, and the engagement of teachers in election duties, the Board has decided to cancel the remaining HS First Year Examinations, 2025. Students who appeared for the March 2025 exams will be allowed to take the HS Final Examination in 2026 as per the Board's decision."

The board released a statement clarifying that because of the dates of the Panchayat Election, state teachers will be working on election tasks like preparation, training polling/counting personnel, carrying out the election, and vote counting. According to the State Election Commission's schedule, the election process may continue until May 20, 2025.

In this light, the board has observed that it would not be possible for institutions to conduct exams prior to the completion of the election procedure. Also, conducting exams following the election will be too delayed. Therefore, the board cancelled the remaining subjects of the HS First Year Examinations, 2025, according to the official notification.
