Punjab Governor’s march against drugs enters Amritsar on third day

There is a need to increase employment opportunities for the youth, especially in the border areas, apart from engaging them in the sports activities in their free time so that they don’t fall into the deadly trap of drug addiction, said Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria during the third day of the ‘padyatra’ (foot march) launched by him to spread awareness among the people against rampant drug abuse.

The campaign started from Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School here. The march culminated at Sri Guru Ram Das Nursing College.

A band of students of the school was also part of the padyatra which played patriotic songs.

Earlier, addressing the students, he invoked supreme sacrifices of Sikh Gurus including Guru Ram Das, Guru Teg Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh. He urged the women and children to be part of the campaign, making it a public movement for eradicating the drug peril from Punjab.

When asked about absence of Punjab Chief Minister and ruling party leaders from the campaign, he hoped that they would participate during 5th or the culmination day of the campaign.
