RBI said in a statement that the design of these new notes will be similar to the ₹ 10 and ₹ 500 notes already issued in the Mahatma Gandhi (new) series. That is, no change has been made in the design or security feature, except that these will now have the signature of the new governor Sanjay Malhotra.

New notes of ₹ 10 and ₹ 500 will be issued

RBI has clarified that all the ₹10 and ₹500 notes issued earlier will remain legal tender. That is, the old notes will remain in circulation and the general public need not worry.

Earlier, ₹100 and ₹200 notes have been issued

Let us tell you that last month also RBI had announced the issuance of ₹ 100 and ₹ 200 denomination notes, which were signed by Governor Sanjay Malhotra.

Malhotra replaced Shaktikanta Das as RBI Governor

Sanjay Malhotra took over as RBI Governor in December 2024. He replaced Shaktikanta Das, whose term was completed after the extension.
