Manoj Pahwa on star kids being brutally trolled for their acting, ‘Khushi Kapoor, Aryan Khan yeh sab…’| Exclusive

Manoj Pahwa has been receiving all the praise and appreciation for his powerful portrayal of ‘Pratap Deol’ in season 2 of Chamak on Sony LIV. Created, written and directed by Rohit Jugraj, the show boasts an ensemble cast comprising Paramvir Singh Cheema, Manoj Pahwa, Mohit Malik, Isha Talwar Mukesh Chhabra, Prince Kanwaljit Singh and more.

From acting in iconic television show like Hum Log to portraying a wide range of characters in films such as Mulk, Dil Dhadakne Do, Jigra and more, Pahwa has seen it all. Being in the industry for so many years, he has not just worked with some of the biggest stars but is now also sharing screen space with the next generation- the children of those very stars.

Manoj Pahwa calls out harsh judgement towards star kids

In an exclusive interview with india.com, Manoj Pahwa addressed the criticism that star kids often face for their acting. He revealed that they have an added baggage to prove themselves, and the audience tends to be quite harsh in judging them. The veteran actor said, “Unpe zyada pressure hota hai, vo isliye kyunki hum log jab aaye the toh hum logo toh failure bhi hogaye toh hume kon puchne wala hai, hum aaye the chle gaye, kisko pata hai. Lekin unn bacho pe bahut pressure hota hai. Har aadmi mazak banane keliye baitha hua hai, jaise Shah Rukh Khan ka beta Aaryan Khan kitna bakwas hai, you know.” (There’s a lot more pressure on them. That’s because when we came into the industry, even if we failed nobody cared. We came and we went- who knew us? But these kids are under immense pressure. Everyone is just waiting to mock them. For example, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aaryan Khan is useless, you know.)

Citing the example of Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor, who faced criticism for her performance in Nadaaniya, Pahwa expressed, “Ab koi bhi naya bacha hai, artist hai, unhe thoda time toh lagega, unhe samjhne main, unhe train hone main, thoda seekhne main, thoda time toh lagta hi hai. Ab vo ladki hai, Khushi hai, aayi hai vo mehanti hai, lekin ek-do films lagenge usse sekhne main, vo seekh jayegi aur achi hojayegi. So, itna jo trolling kar raha hai, I don’t think this is right.” (Any new kid, any new artist, they will need some time. It takes time to understand things, to get trained, to learn. It always takes a bit of time. Now this girl, Khushi, she has come in, she’s hardworking, but it’ll take her a film or two to learn. She will learn and she will get better. So all this trolling that’s happening, I don’t think it’s right).

Manoj Pahwa on working with Aryan Khan

Manoj Pahwa who will be seen playing a pivotal role in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut Stardom, praised the young filmmaker’s respectful nature, drawing parallels between him and his father, Shah Rukh Khan. ‘Bahut hi pyaare insaan hai, apne papa ki tarah. Bahut similarities hai dono main. Dono hi both tameezdar hai, aur bado ki izzat karne wale hai. They are very good people, they are very good hosts and uske saath kaam karke, bahut maza aya. (Aryan is a wonderful human being, just like his father. There are a lot of similarities between the two- both are extremely well-mannered and respectful towards their elders. They’re not just good people, but also incredible hosts. It was an absolute pleasure working with him.” Pahwa shared.
