MP's Sehore Municipality, Police Patrol River To Prevent 'Water Theft' Amid Growing Crisis
Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Sehore Municipality has started patrolling Parvati river, along with police personnel, in order to prevent ‘water thefts’ occurring frequently in the district.
Keeping in mind the scarcity of water during summers, Sehore administration had declared the district as water-scarce area and also banned tubewell mining without permission.
Additionally, the administration has acquired 12 private bores in the Ashta area of the district.
In the same effort, the municipality formed a special team for patrolling various water bodies through a boat on Kahiri Bandhan.
2 illegal motors found in Parvati river
However, many farmers of Shajapur area were allegedly reported to be stealing water illegally from rivers. The Municipality team found 2 motors pumping water out of the Kahiri Bandhan built on Parvati river.
The team also alleged the villagers misbehaved and argued with them during the patrol. To tackle the situation, Nagar Palika team has now teamed-up with the police personnel, who now also participate in inspection, checking any kind of interruptions.
Regarding the matter, Nagar Palika Sehore Assistant Engineer Vijay Koli stated, during the inspection the villagers often argue and even pelt stones at team members.
“Therefore, we have taken the police's assistance to guard the water as well as the team. This is reserved water for Sehore city itself. The team regularly inspects Parvati River, Jamonia pond and Bhagwan Pura pond and we are committed to protecting it," he concluded.
