Nationwide Preparations for Ram Navami; Security Tightened in Several States Including Bengal and Bihar
Ram Navami, one of the major Hindu festivals, will be celebrated across India tomorrow, with preparations underway in various parts of the country. Processions (Shobha Yatras) are planned in many cities, and police forces have been put on high alert to maintain peace. In West Bengal, where tensions have previously arisen during the festival, the High Court has allowed the Shobha Yatra with certain restrictions. Elephants have been completely banned from use in processions, and heightened security measures are in place.Bihar has also issued an alert, with the DGP holding meetings with district police chiefs and banning the use of DJs. In Uttar Pradesh, flag marches have been conducted in cities including Ayodhya. Maharashtra, including cities like Mumbai and Nagpur, has ramped up surveillance through drones and social media monitoring.West Bengal BJP MP Arun Govil urged the Mamata government to reconsider restrictions on Ram Navami, calling the festival a peaceful and proud expression of faith. Meanwhile, members of the Anjani Putra Sena in Howrah, West Bengal, are preparing for the Shobha Yatra by putting up saffron flags with slogans like “Say it with pride, we are Hindus.” Given past incidents of violence during Ram Navami in Bengal, the administration is taking extra precautions to ensure peace this year.
