ED Recovers Rs 1.5 Crore In Raids On 'Empuraan' Producer Gokulam Gopalan In FEMA Violation Case
A day after launching searches in connection with an alleged foreign exchange violation case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced the recovery of Rs 1.5 crore from premises linked to Kerala-based businessman and film producer Gokulam Gopalan.
The raids were conducted under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and spanned multiple locations, including Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Kochi in Kerala, according to official sources quoted by PTI.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, as per ANI, "ED has recovered Rs 1.5 crore following a multi-state search conducted on April 4 in Tamil Nadu and Kerela in a FEMA case involving Gokulam Gopalan and his company Sree Gopalan Chit and Finance Co Ltd."

The Raids
One of the focal points of the operation was the Chennai office of Gopalan’s financial enterprise, located in the Kodambakkam area. The search was reportedly carried out by an ED team from Kerala.
Gokulam Gopalan, a prominent figure in South India’s business and entertainment sectors, heads the Sree Gokulam Group of Companies — a conglomerate with interests in finance, hospitality, education, and film production.
The raids have garnered additional public attention due to Gopalan’s involvement as producer in the high-profile Malayalam film “L2: Empuraan,” the sequel to the 2019 political thriller Lucifer, which was a major box office success.
