Before the Second World War began, a secret treaty was signed between Germany and the Soviet Union. It was decided that after conquering Poland, it would be divided between the two countries. The western third of Poland was to be given to Germany and the eastern two-thirds to the Soviet Union. This treaty added fuel to the fire and the whole of Europe was set ablaze.

The Second World War lasted from 1939 to 1945. The land, sea and air forces of about 70 countries participated in it. About 10 crore soldiers from different nations took part in this war. This proved to be the deadliest war in human history.

In December 1941, the Japanese Empire also jumped into this war on the side of the Axis powers. Japan’s aim was to establish its dominance in East Asia. Japan attacked America’s Pearl Harbor in the Pacific Ocean. After this, America also joined this war.
