Scripted video: Viral clip of Muslim man admitting to marrying own daughter is scripted
A video of an elderly man wearing a white kurta and a skullcap sitting with a young girl has been gathering a lot of traction on social media. The elderly man refers to the girl as his own daughter and asks if it was wrong for him to marry her. Social media users are sharing this video taking aim at the Muslim community, claiming that a Muslim father married his own daughter. Some are sharing this as an incident from Pakistan.
Instagram user @arun_meme69 shared the video, adding, “No one will object” along with a sarcastic caption that read, “This is the love between a father and daughter. ” (Archived link)
The video has garnered more than 21 lakh views and over 11,000 comments.
A Facebook user named Nishad Bhai also shared the video and wrote, “During Ramadan, a father married his own daughter and she is pregnant.” (Archived link)
At the moment, the video has been made inaccessible. Upon clicking the link, one encounters the notice: The link This video may no longer exist, or you don’t have permission to view it.
Verified X user Sakshi Sonam also promoted the video and claimed, “Abdul married his own daughter”. (Archived link)
Verified X user @Rocky2186336 also targeted Muslims and amplified the video. He called for Hindus to retweet his posts, and also called Shiv Sena’s Bala Saheb a Hindu and Uddhav Thackeray a so-called Muslim. (Archived link)
The viral clip is also being circulated on social media by some users as an incident from Pakistan. X user @theinformant_x claims to be “an independent and liberal journalist covering global news”. He described the video as being from Pakistan and added that a Muslim man married a child, and in Islamic communities, hundreds of thousands of young girls were often forced to marry much older men against their will.
Fact Check
Alt News performed a reverse image search using key frames from the viral video. This led us to two Instagram reels featuring the footage in question uploaded by a user named Raj Thakur on March 5 and March 6, 2025, along with a YouTube channel named Raj Thakur on March 5, 2025. The captions below all the videos clearly mention that the content is totally scripted, and does not depict a real incident. It also mentions that the full video can be found on a Facebook page named Raj Thakur.
Upon further investigation, we found a longer version of the viral video uploaded on Raj Thakur’s Facebook page on March 6, 2025. However, this video, too, has now been made unavailable.
Alt News combed through Raj Thakur’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook pages. His social media profiles reveal that he is a video content creator and has also posted several other scripted videos titled, ‘Metro me chori’ (Robbery in the metro), and ‘train me chori’ (Robbery in the train).
We also noticed the young actress seen in the viral footage appearing in other similar videos on Ashwani Pandey’s YouTube channel, another creator who makes scripted content for entertainment purposes.
So, to sum up, a scripted video was falsely shared on social media as the depiction of a real incident of an elderly man marrying his own daughter, with users taking aim at the Muslim community.
